Many get DiSEqC switches (pronounced: "Die
Sec" switch) and Multi-switches confused. So, what's the
difference between a DiSEqC switch and Multi-Switch? It's
simple. A DiSEqC switch takes signals from many LNB's and
combine them to be used by a receiver. The DiSEqC protocol
is usually used by Free To Air or "standard" satellite
receivers. All Common Interface (CI) Receivers, most Common
Access (CA) receivers and and all Free To Air (FTA) use
DiSEqC protocol.
A Multi-Switch combines signal from many LNBF's and
distributes them to 3 or more receivers. A Multi-Switch is
usually used with DISH Network or DirecTV systems, but can
be used with Free To Air systems also.
